Cowgirl

in development, SK, 100 minutes, drama, PG 12

Teenage Barbora lives on a secluded farmstead with her father and the love of her life, the horse Indy, with whom she frequently takes part in Western-style riding competitions. Barbora is stirred from her carefree existence when she finds out that her father is involved in farm subsidy fraud and she decides to stand up to him. Cowgirl tells the story of a generational shift and the rebellion of children against the world of their parents. With its coming-of-age dramatic structure, it can shed light on the all-too-current subject of agricultural corruption in Slovakia, which ultimately has a decisive effect on our society. The combination of a local theme with Western genre elements carries a strong international potential.
